“As part of a major project to transfer a manufacturing line from a customer site into Linwave Technology, Serco were requested to the supply and installation an air-handling and air-conditioning system. The system was specified to establish a temperature controlled class 10,000 cleanroom spread throughout three rooms in an existing facility. The solution was custom-built to fit around the current buildings infrastructure, and the installation had to take place alongside building works and the installation of other services such as gas, electical, water and PC network installations.

The timescale available to complete the installation also had to be compressed into 3.5 weeks to allow the manufacturing line transfer to take place on the planned date. As a result, Serco personnel worked around the clock to complete the system design, ducting manufacture and installation on time to allow the transfer activity to take place as planned. Furthermore, the installation personnel worked with our site developers to overcome the inevitable problems that arise when undertaking building projects of this scale and nature. This resulted in both the installation process and building works being completed on time and to budget, and the line commissioning to take place as planned. The final system proof was that within 2 days of switch-on, the dustcount levels recorded were well within the class 10,000 specification and have been maintained there since.
